ROLE: Design Director

I love it when a plan comes together, such as this Key & Peele retrospective site. Product wanted a mobile friendly short-form video experience, Editorial wanted new ways to showcase content, PR wanted Emmy buzz and fans wanted access to the K&P library. This aligned strategy gave the business grounds to do something really special. I lead the team through product design of this first implementation of a new clip-based template. Notable UX firsts for Viacom web product: an architecture not tied to a parent full-length episode, in-line video playback (especially helpful on mobile to keep users on one screen and load clips faster), a lazy loading homepage that could be programmed for ‘endless’ scrolling, multiple content types—videos, photos, gifs, articles and audio clips—in the same grid, and a looping video hero.

When it was launched, everyone got what they wanted. By my count, that’s a win-win-win-win!
